Your location says france... assuming you are in that country, can you explain to me why nobody, and i mean nobody there will speak any other language than french? In germany the average person speaks 2-3 languages, and I know French schools are teaching second language classes.

But most ppl are only speaking 2 languages, 3 is quite more uncommon, also depends of family, where u r from etc ... the scary part is now, when looking at young ppl in schools at some 14-ish age, they often have helluva time using french, those MSN and SMS crap not doing any good at all

I have no doubt that any culture can learn any language... I wasnt saying that French people couldnt learn languages... I was saying that when I go there, they refuse to speak anything but french. In germany you could speak any number of about 8 different languages and find somebody who would speak it back. Is it a pride thing, or just straight up refusal to be open to others?

I dont remember any of the Spanish I was taught back in 7th grade. Of course I didnt have to take any other language in high school to graduate... And I'm fine with just knowing American English... Because that is what we speak here in the United States... I would only hope that anyone coming here and expecting to get a job or whatever would at least speak what we speak here...

There is a difference here. I wasnt going to france to work. Not to mention the european nations are all so close together that its just normal for people to speak more than 1 language. German kids start learning English at about 12, and are forced to learn it for 4 years I believe. Then its optional to learn more. Of course that doesnt include the other languages they can also learn.
